Practical Joke hits new high

Here is a story worthy of my immediate posting. Which of course meant it took several days for me to get off my butt and post it. A co-worker and some of his friends have a rather vicious sense of humor. I promised him I would post this and it's way worth it even though it did take longer than it should have.

Eagle Rock California

Electric car owner Michael "Otto" Penzato choses a rather ironic paint scheme for his electric 1992 BMW 525.  Taking a page from the last presidential election, the hood features an oil well gushing in the arctic wilderness and a baby seal lying dead at the base of it. The car was converted to electric by Greg "Gadget" Abbot, host of many popular Discovery Channel Series including "Big"

The car is a full electric conversion. Challenges have included finding a way to drive the power steering pump without the belt drive system that came standard with the gasoline engine. I am sure Mr. Penzato will be able to surmount this and other challenges. Once it is completely roadworthy he may change the slogan on the hood from "Drill Baby Drill!" to "Drive Baby Drive!"

We salute Mr Penzato for his efforts to reduce his carbon footprint while still maintaining a good sense of humor!

Left is the fire that started the whole thing . . .

Need some weave poles?

I have a friend, who has a friend who is selling a pair of brand new, never been used weave poles. There are 2 sets of 6 poles for $150. This is a great price for ready-to-go pole sets.

In case you happen to know anyone who might be interested. Good price.

Hello out there!

Sorry I have been absent. Not sure I have any valid reason other than not feeling like updating much of anything including my website. Maybe it's summer, or adding a dog to the household. Beag's health has been all over the place and my work commute (from Eagle Rock to Brentwood) has been wearing. All must have had an affect on my interest in writing.

That's seems to be changed for now. I am also, again, a regular denizen of the dog park and taking photos for the gallery. Plus with Scotty I am out herding and all the fun that goes with it. I am also back to updating my other site, UrbanHerder.com.

I'll write some fun stories about the effect that Scotty as had on my household and Beag's reactions over on my blog.

Oh and GO RED WINGS!! Bring that Cup back home on Tuesday!

Following the Tour of California (AToC)
Written by bikeguy

Stage 1 of the Amgen Tour of California was today and the weather conditions were WAY beyond awful. Consequently the video coverage was completely crappy. Because the helicopters couldn't get into the air, the signals from the motorcycle cameras couldn't get out and onto TV. There is a fabulous Adobe Air-based application to watch / follow the race as well as the web site, but the reporting seems to rely heavily on the TV and while trying to follow today the tracker was in and out and very inconsistent. And the coverage was all stories and very little coverage. BOOORING!!

But the best way to follow the race was Twitter. Just join (it's free) and set your feed to follow #atoc and everything

flows right into your timeline. By far the best way to follow what's going on. Just in the last couple of hours there have been, probably, hundreds of people joining twitter just by word of mouth on how well it's working.

Lance Armstrong is messaging before and after the race, Johann Bruyneel (Lance's team manager) is tweeting DURING the race from the team car and many journalists as well as on-the-scene fans with updates all the way through.

If you are interested in keeping up with the race, go with Twitter!

ihone holder

Here is a cool little accessory to put your iPhone, iPod Touch, etc on your bike. With the new iPhone 3G you can even use GPS to track your rides.
